The Windows installer for Analysis Services client libraries will be retired next year as these assemblies target .NET 4.5 which is no longer supported and upgrading the .msi release would result in a breaking change. The final release of the Windows installer (.msi) will be in July and it will remain available to download until 31 December 2024.
The Analysis Services Management Objects (AMO/TOM) and ADOMD client libraries will continue to be available as installable packages from NuGet.org and will be the only release vehicle going forward. The new Nuget packages will contain all supported platforms and the older versions will not be updated after this release. Note that the package identity will not include the retail.amd64 suffix to make it clear that the package is independent of the CPU platform.
Action required
To minimize potential risk and security issues, please migrate to NuGet reference instead of using Windows Installer and upgrade to the new Nuget packages before 31 December 2024.
