Power BI Weekly Issue 255: 2024/04/23

This week we’ve had a few official updates. The first being that Copilot in Power BI will soon be available to more users in your organization, the main point being that it will be enabled by default as of May 20th (so ensure your tenant admin knows about this). We’ve also been told about the Deprecation of AutoML in Power BI using Dataflows V1 with the migration strategy being to use the equivalent feature in Fabric notebooks. Finally, we’ve been given the On-premises data gateway April 2024 release with new support for refreshes that take longer than an hour.

Elsewhere this week, Jeffrey Wang has written a fascinating blog taking us under the hood in Visual Calculations: Introducing a Two-Layer Approach in DAX Calculations, Olivier Travers has written a great overview of the various Power BI Programmatic Options: REST APIs, PowerShell, TMSL, TOM, Tabular Editor Scripting, Semantic Link, and David Eldersveld has written a short but useful piece on the Transition from Power BI Premium P SKU to Fabric F SKU: Impact of Enterprise Agreement (EA) Timeline.
