In the second Advent Blog of this season, we presented some of our most prominent enablement content, including (but not limited to) how-to guides, highlighted SAP Notes, Advanced Shipping & Receiving enablement content, and more. In today’s Week 3 Advent Blog I would like to take some time (and paragraphs) to put the spotlight on the overlooked content that was published this year, but did not have the chance to shine. These topics we did not share more outwardly during the year, but nevertheless we believe readers can get valuable insights from them. And starting off today’s selection of topics are a selection of update articles on the health check tools available for SAP EWM.
Checking On the Health Check Tools
It has been a while since we mentioned or discussed the health check and support tools available for our Logistics solutions. This year there have been two important updates to the EWM Check Monitor framework, that further help with correcting data inconsistencies. Data Inconsistencies can occur in different forms in a system that can block the business processing. These corrections are:
- How to correct Document Flow Issues – Most of the statuses of the delivery items are calculated from different quantity types and those quantities are determined from the document flow links. If, however, one such link is missing from the item after stock removal then the status of the items cannot be determined or completed, thereby blocking Delivery document creation, and posting goods issue. Another potential inconsistency is the existence of extra (superfluous) links – for example a picking link is duplicated on the ODO item. The unexpected surplus quantities can cause overloaded or overpicked items for example. In short, if there is any issue with the document flow then the item statuses will not reflect the real-world status anymore and you get blocked with the process. If you wish to find out how to correct these issues, I recommend you check out the SAP EWM Check Monitor Framework blog on how to correct Document Flow Issues.
- How to correct Warehouse Order status related issues – One more type of inconsistency that can occur in EWM, is the incorrect display of the Warehouse Order status, which in turn affects Warehouse Order processing. In some occasions, the status of the Warehouse Order does not match with the individual statuses of the Warehouse tasks or Physical Inventory documents associated with that Warehouse Order. For example, the Warehouse Order status can show the “Incomplete” message despite individual Warehouse Tasks showing the “Complete” status. These kinds of issues might negatively effect other Warehouse Order creation, archiving or statistical data. For more on how to proceed with correcting these issues, I recommend you check out the SAP EWM Check Monitor Framework article on how to correct Warehouse Order status related issues.
LE-TRA Features in Basic Transportation Management in SAP S/4HANA
As you already know LE-TRA is not the target architecture for transportation management anymore within SAP S/4HANA. The alternative functionality is the basic variant of Transportation Management within SAP S/4HANA. The main functions of LE-TRA have already been replaced with those selected functions of SAP S/4HANA Supply Chain for Transportation Management.
That means until the expiration of the usage rights of the Compatibility Packs, both technical applications (LE-TRA and Transportation Management) are independent from each other and can be used next to each other in the same SAP S/4HANA database instance. However, they are not integrated with each other and there is no data exchange. Details can be found in SAP Note 2270199 “SAP S/4HANA Transition Worklist – Transportation (LE-TRA)”.
If you want to see a more detailed comparison between LE-TRA and basic SAP TM in SAP S/4HANA, as well as learn how you could use main features of LE-TRA with basic Transportation Management in S/4HANA, then I suggest you check out the following link which provides description of LE-TRA functionality compared to basic Transportation Management.

Free Online SAP Logistics Course – Transformation from SAP ERP to SAP S/4HANA
In recent years, the world has seen many different challenges disrupting global supply chains. Transforming business to resilient supply chains has become a key differentiator for successful enterprises across industries. To tackle these demands and enable the transformation, SAP created and evolved several solutions like SAP S/4HANA to support its customers. In the area of logistics, SAP strengthened its solution portfolio for the delivery of goods by integrating the standalone SAP Transportation Management and SAP Extended Warehouse Management solutions into the core of SAP S/4HANA to harmonize transport processes across the various warehouse solutions, thereby replacing the well-known SAP ERP Logistics Execution modules LE-TRA and LE-WM.
To that end, this year SAP has released a great new and free online course, which has enjoyed great success and critical acclaim among the thousands of course takers. This course will help you understand the transformation from SAP ERP to SAP S/4HANA for the Logistics Execution modules (Transportation Management and Extended Warehouse Management) and how to leverage the benefits of the change.
If you want to access this free course, just register for an account on openSAP and take the SAP Logistics – Transformation from SAP ERP to SAP S/4HANA course today!
Revisiting Our Favourite Podcast
Another unofficial tradition for myself when drafting these Advent blog posts is spotlighting the great Extended Warehouse Management Podcast led by the two great digital supply chain solution advisors, Andreas Rupp and Matthias Natter. In this podcast series, our two solution advisors leverage their many years of experience in consulting and development to share with us interesting information and facts about intralogistics with SAP EWM.
As an example, in their latest episode “Reporting & KPIs with SAP EWM”, Andreas and Matthias explore the flexible reporting options available for warehouse logistics to satisfy the various information needs of the different stakeholders.
The podcast is available in both English and German, and is also available on Spotify, Amazon Music as well as Apple Podcasts.
